The Big Give
Christmas Challenge
If you are planning to support Schoolreaders this year, please consider doing so between 3–10 December. Your donation will have double the impact!
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is an annual campaign which brings together larger donors, such as philanthropists, foundations and businesses, with the giving public and the charities who need them.
The concept is simple. For one week, all donations to your chosen charity will be matched; doubling your impact.
It costs us just £40 to provide a child with an entire year of one-to-one reading support. If you are able to give during the challenge, you can double the difference you’ll make to children's literacy and future life chances. By July 2025, we’re aiming to provide one-to-one reading support to 35,000 children each week.
Gifts can be made through the Big Give’s website by credit or debit card. Or new for 2024, if you’d prefer to make a bank transfer, please visit the Big Give’s website to find out how to set up a donor account.
Improving child literacy; increasing life chances
One in four children in England do not reach the expected standard of reading when leaving primary school.
These children cannot fully access their secondary education, which limits their future opportunities.
Schoolreaders provides volunteers to listen to children read in school on a one-to-one basis.
Time spent with Schoolreaders volunteers improves children's literacy and future life-chances.
